About this project
Central Christian Center wanted a site that was focused on Media and Events, and one that would reflect the church’s growing commitment to excellence in all aspects.
Case Study
The Start:
The first version of a site map was quite ambitious, and we decided to focus on the top priorities and what the church had manpower for and could keep updated. We still have plans to incorporate these things in stages, and as you might have noticed we have already began to turn some of them on.
How It Got Done:
After I presented the initial mock-up and colors, we moved on to finalizing what areas of the site we wanted on the initial site build. From there the site was built live on our new server using Expression Engine as the CMS and SSP Director for managing our media. We focused on the media driven parts of the site first, especially video services. In fact we rolled out the video first and then when we had the site ready, we took it all live at once. We also switched the email over to a Google for domains system, giving all the staff access to Gmail as their church email web client as well as Google Docs and our own jabber client.
Future:
Our plan is to keep growing and hopefully build on the community aspects more. As this is my home church and they have put me in charge of developing our sites, and training people to update content - the future is bright for us to keep on the leading edge and take advantage of the power of the web.
